The 19th Annual Convention!

Convention Scholarship, Dowser of the Year Award, AGM and Elections

Convention Scholarship
One scholarship will be awarded this year by CSD. If you wish to apply, or submit the name of someone you know who might qualify for a scholarship, please contact Mark Brewer, Convention Convener, 9 Glebe Crescent, Brampton, ON L6S 1H4 or
mark@ReikiToronto.com by May 20th. Briefly explain your financial constraints and why you wish to be considered. Those not selected this year may apply in subsequent years.

Dowser of the Year Award
This award recognizes dowsing contributions at the local level to a member of the CSD. Not only does the Dowser of the Year recipient receive a certificate of appreciation, the name of the individual will also be engraved on the beautiful trophy that was designed by Klaus Stalschuss. This trophy is displayed annually at the Convention and then the recipient will be able to keep it at his/her home for a year until the 2007 Convention. Each year the Board appoints an Awards Committee to consider nominations that have been submitted by the membership. These nominations should be submitted to Eva Janecek-Rucker, CSD Recording Secretary, 270 Robert Street. Toronto, ON M5S 2K8, or evaj@allstream.net. Please list in detail the reasons that the dowser should be considered for the award and submit nomination by May 20, 2006.

Annual General Meeting and Election Information
Members in good standing of the Canadian Society of Dowsers are hereby notified of the Annual General Meeting of the Society, to be held at Humber Institute, 203 Humber College Blvd., Toronto, Ontario, on June 25, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. (This meeting is open to all members at no charge, even though they may not have registered for the Convention.)

A nominating committee, consisting of three CSD members who are not seeking election, will be appointed by the Board. If you wish to propose a name for its consideration, please contact the chairperson of that committee, Andrea McCabe, at ammcabe@sympatico.ca, or at 35 Ipswich Place, Hamilton, ON L8K 3E8. At the Annual Meeting, the committee will present a slate of nominations of people whom they consider suitable and who are willing to serve as directors for the coming year. Nominations from the floor may be made by any CSD member of any other CSD member, provided that the nominee agrees, and the nomination is seconded by another CSD member.

A vote will be taken for any position (president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer or member-at-large) where there is more than one nomination. The vote may be by written ballot if this is deemed suitable. If so, a member will be elected to preside over the counting of ballots. The members of the nominating committee will be asked to do the counting. After the outcome of the election is clear, a motion will be made to destroy all ballots. Proxy voting privileges for CSD members not able to be present at the Annual Meeting are permitted under our Constitution and By-Laws. Send a copy of the statement below to Membership Secretary, Bev Gaal at 7-800 Queenston Road, Suite 152, Stoney Creek, ON L8G 1A7 by June 20, or have your proxy deliver it to her at the Convention prior to the Annual Meeting. Your proxy will be issued with a special proxy-voting card.
